                                               THE HUMAN SKELOTON
Did you know that the human skeleton has more than 200 bones? Our hard stiff bones support our whole body. The skeleton also protects the soft organs inside of our body.
The basic job of the skeleton is support. The spine also supports the whole upper body. The spine lets us stand up in an upright position. Humans enjoy the amazing advantage than animals because of the position. The legs are for walking places. The arms are free for common everyday activities.
The second major job of the skeleton is protection. The skeleton’s rigid structure protects the soft organs inside of the body.
The third major part of the skeleton is movement. The skeleton works with the muscles. The muscles allow the bone to move in very, very different ways. The spine lets us stand up walk run and many other abilities.
The rib cage forms a shell to protect the heart and lungs. At the points where bones connect the bones have a protective covering called cartilage. If two bones constantly rub together without this covering they would wear down and become damaged. Cartilage can be damaged however it’s not easily repaired. As people get older their cartilage is some joints can wear down.
