Any of a phylum (Arthropods) of an invertebrate animal (as insects, arachnids, and crustaceans) that have a segmented body and jointed appendages, an exoskeleton molted at intervals, and a dorsal anterior brain connected to a ventral chain of ganglia. Arthropods are any segment animal with six or more legs. They are considered to be the largest include crabs, shrimp and many more. The few land arthropods include spiders, flies, dragon flies, ladybugs and many more. They also live in all sorts of different habitats on Earth. They can be found in the coldest places and the hottest places. Most arthropods are small in range size from mites that you can hardly be seen. The largest ones in the sea are the king crab and lobster. Their exoskeleton is made of chitin. It cannot bend at all. Their bodies are therefore jointed at various points. They allow them to move. As they grow the form of a new one. Their bodies form few segments. They are the legs. Most arthropods can walk up walls and on the ceilings. They can’t see individual objects at all. They are invertebrates. They have no backbones. Also they have a brain and long nerve cells. They take the form of tiny hairs, cones, pits, or slits. Also they eat many kinds of foods that are plants, or animals. They usually have some kind of appendages, or body parts near the mouth that they use to gather different foods. Most arthropods lay eggs, or give birth to babies. They may have fewer segments. As they grow they develop the adult features and some hatch larva. The larva develops into the adult form called a proses metamorphosis. |
