The Amazing Lynx
By EDJ
The lynx is an animal that lives mostly in the high mountains, but will go where ever rabbits are plentiful. The lynx class is Mammalia. The lynx also is a carnivore. The lynx is also in the felidae family. Its genus is lynx. The lynx’s species is the felis lynx.
The lynx has long limbs, their legs. They also have tufted ears, and have very large paws that have adapted to move through the harsh weather and snow. Lynxs can weigh from twenty-two to forty-four pounds. This interesting creature has pretty limited food choices. It mostly eats mice, squirrels, a wide variety of birds, but they mostly prefer to eat snowshoe hares. They seem to be their favorite snack.
You can find these animals are in Asia, it’s in Europe, and finally in North America. Sadly, this creature is threatened so we need to come together and save these animals.
They live by themselves, but males and females will come together during the mating season to mate. After they are finished they will not meet again. Females will almost always reach sexual maturity at one year of age. The lynx mate in the late winter all the way to the early spring. The female gives birth to one to four kittens in each litter. The mother will give up to 44 kittens in their life time. They will also have up to 13 litters of kittens.
