The flying squirrel travels in packs. They could not survive without each other. Each squirrel in the colony has a job. Some will get barriers. Some will sound off the alarm when a predator is coming, and there are many more. They will never try to leave one of their own.
Description:
Flying squirrels are beautiful creatures. They are small, fluffy, all different colors, and have big eyes. They are four legged and have incisor teeth. Flying squirrels have claws that they use to open up nuts with. They can be camouflage with the trees to hide from its predator.
Foods:
They didn’t have much to choose from to eat. Their favorite food is nuts. They also eat fruit, plants, insects, and grain. If they didn’t have any of those foods they would eat the leaves on the trees. If the food would run out they would move to a new part of the woods.
Countries that have flying squirrels:
They are located in many countries. They are very popular in Asia and Europe. They are not endangered.
Interesting facts:
The flying squirrel is a part of the rodent family. The average size is 12 inches long. They make nests in trees for their babies. The males will fight for the women to the death. It does not fly. They glide on the wind from tree to tree. They make great leaps if they need to get away from the predator. It can glide for 1,300 feet. The flying squirrel runs very fast on land. When it glides it can make sharp turns and angles. It glides on loose flap of skin.
