Cheeath

Classification
The cheetah is a very interesting animal. Its class is the Mammalia which is another word for mammal. The order is the carnivore. The genus is the Aacinonyx jubatus.
Habitat
The cheetah’s habitat is the savannas and the free grasslands where they can roam freely. Even though they roam freely in the grasslands they are almost extinct. They are vulnerable.
Favorite Food
This animal’s favorite meal is caribou, antelopes, and horses, but they eat many other things. You can find this mammal in the eastern and southwestern of Africa. There are also tons of interesting facts about the cheetah. I will name some of them.
Facts
The female cheetah has a litter of three cubs and lives with them for 1 and a half to 2 years! Thank goodness that’s not my mom. Their age of maturity is 2-3 years. Sometimes male cheetahs live alone or in groups. Only 12,000 cheetahs remain.

When cheetahs go hunting they wait at the right moment to attack and knock down its prey. Even though cheetahs are fast, it is hard for the cheetah to catch its prey.  The cheetah first starts out very fast then they start to slow down because they cannot last for a long running so they must act quickly. Once they catch their prey they must eat fast so other animals like a bear does not steal its prey and take it for themselves.

The cheetah can make very interesting sounds. They can snarl. They can also growl, cough, moan, bleat, and make other noises. They cannot roar like a lion. Cheetahs are very peaceful and solitary except at breeding time.

I used many websites to find my information on the cheetah. I used nationalgeographic.com (1996-2010 National Geographic Society). I also have used sandiegozoo.org (2010 Zoological Society of San Diego).
