The Koala Classification
Koalas are beautiful animals. The class of the koala is the mammalia. Their order is called Diprotodontia. Koalas live in the Phascolarctidae. Their genus is Phascolarctos. The koala species is Cinereus.

The Koala`s Habitat
Koalas live in eucalyptus trees. They stay in the trees in Australia. Their habitat is mostly eucalyptus trees, but they can go in other trees too. Koalas live in the upper part of the trees where there are thick branches for koalas to sit on and sometimes to sleep on.

Description
The koala  is a mammal and is also a herbivore. When koalas are first born, they can already see, hear, and climb. Koala bear fur feels like the wool on sheep.

Koala eats:
Koalas eat leaves on certain trees. The tree that koalas eat the leaves off of, are called eucalyptus trees.

Countries to find the koala in…
The country that you will find many koalas are on Australia`s eastern and southern coasts.

Are Koalas endangered?
Koalas are endangered. They are often killed for their soft coat of fur and they are sometimes run over by cars. Koalas also have some predators.

Interesting Facts……
Koala bears are not really bears, but they are marsupials. Koala bears are known for carrying their young in their pouch. The average koala bear lives up to 20 years in the wild and is usually 20lb. Female koalas have pouches to carry their babies in. Koalas are members of the marsupial family along with kangaroos. Marsupials live in Australia. Koalas look cuddly, but they don`t make good pets.
